Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, has been elected Chairman of the GSMA Board of Directors, succeeding his role as acting chair. He is the second Indian to hold this position, after Sunil Bharti Mittal. Vittal, with over a decade of experience on the GSMA Board, will lead the global telecom industry through challenges like AI integration and 5G development.

Bharti Airtel: During the pan-India 5G rollouts in the last 2-3 years, capex levels of India’s top telcos was much higher at around 30-50% of revenue.
