New Delhi and Brasilia are looking to co-develop defence products in the latest such moves towards establishing stronger military ties

General Tomas Miguel Mine Ribeiro Paiva, Commander of the Brazilian Army, is visiting India to witness military maneuvers and weapon platform firing. The visit aims to showcase the Indian Army's weapon system capabilities and strengthen defense cooperation between the two nations. General Paiva engaged in discussions with top Indian military officials and emphasized the commitment to mutual growth and shared excellence. This visit highlights the deep-rooted bond between the armies of India and Brazil and reinforces their commitment to collaborative security efforts. Both countries have been exploring areas of cooperation in the defense sector through joint ventures and technological partnerships.

The plant will look to manufacture a 9mm pistol for use by the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the Indian Army. The two companies are also planning to make a 5.56 x 45mm carbine which is required in large numbers by the Indian Army

Confirming this to Financial Express Online, a senior officer said, “A delegation of senior officials led by Sanjay Jaju, Additional Secretary (Defence Production), Ministry of Defence (MoD) and representatives of several public and private sector companies from the defence sector will travel under the umbrella of FICCI.”
