Chandan Taparia, Technical & Derivative Analyst at MOFSL said, as long as Nifty remains below 14,850 level, weakness can continue and take Nifty towards the next key support at 14,600 and 14,500 levels.

Overall, 17 shares were trading in green in Nifty50 index, while 33 were trading in red in the afternoon trade.

Ajit Mishra, VP - Research, Religare Broking said, "In absence of any major trigger, we may see further consolidation in markets. Meanwhile, the focus should be on position management. Nifty has the next major support around the 14,850-14,950 zone."

"On the benchmark front, Nifty has next support at 15,050 levels," said Ajit Mishra, VP - Research, Religare Broking.

“Once the high gets taken out, the index can head towards 15,000 level in the short term. On the downside, the gap area between 14,469 and 14,336 levels will act as a crucial support zone," said Gaurav Ratnaparkhi, Senior Technical Analyst, Sharekhan by BNP Paribas.

Among sectors, bank, auto and infra indices ended with 3-4 percent gains each. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose 1-2 percent each.

Every proposal that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in her Budget will have long-term repercussions and some stocks are better positioned to benefit from them, analysts said.

What needs to be seen is if we can keep above this level over the next few days. If we break 13,700, we could slide down to 13,500-13,600 and then to 13,200

Manish Hathiramani, proprietary index trader and technical analyst, Deen Dayal Investments said, “If we manage to get past this level, we should be headed to 14,800-14,900. The index has made a strong base at the 14,200 levels, which acted as good support."
