Avenue Supermarts, led by veteran investor Radhakishan Damani, announced in a stock exchange filing on March 6 that it had opened new outlets in Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Chikkaballapur (Karnataka), Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), and Amritsar (Punjab).

Bajaj Finance leads in absolute market capitalization growth, adding Rs 1.02 lakh crore this year, while SBI Cards and Payment Services takes the top spot in percentage terms with a 30% rise. Bajaj Finances m-cap grew by 24%, while SBI Cards 30% increase added Rs 19,127 crore. Maruti Suzuki India and Bajaj Finserv outpaced SBI Card in absolute growth, with their market caps rising by Rs 60,346 crore (18%) and Rs 51,955 crore (21%), respectively, though they trailed in percentage gains.

DMart founder Radhakishan Damani has seen value of his holdings shrink by ₹64,000 crore, or 28%, since October 1, falling from ₹2.31 lakh crore to ₹1.67 lakh crore, according to primeinfobase.com data.

Portfolios of seasoned investors including Jhunjhunwala, RK Damani, Ashish Kacholia and Vijay Kedia, who have parked hundreds of crores in select stocks, often attracting investors.

The stock quoted a 52-week high price of Rs 5484.00 and low of Rs 3400.00.

Extending losses for the third straight session, DMart shares fell as much as 5.7% to ₹3,474 in the early trade on the BSE.

DMart operator Avenue Supermarts Ltd.'s third quarter results have made brokerages turn cautious on the stock. They expect margins will continue to be under pressure amid the high competition and management’s focus on market share. Macquarie has flagged concerns on the paints sector and has cut target price for top players like Asian Paints Ltd., Kansai Nerolac Ltd. and Berger Paints Ltd.

According to the earnings data released Saturday, the retailer’s consolidated net profit rose 4.9 per cent to ₹724 crore. In the same quarter of last year, the net profit was ₹690 crore.

The company debuted at Rs 110 on BSE, offering an immediate 41% premium to IPO investors, while on NSE, shares opened at Rs 104, reflecting a 33.3% premium.

The BSE Sensex fell 614 points, or 0.77 per cent to close at 79,330.14. Nifty declined 168.80 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 24,019.85. This is even as 2,136 BSE-listed stocks gained against 1,499 that slid so far.
