Stock Market News: Trends in the SGX Nifty indicate a cautious opening for the broader index in India with a loss of 2 points on Tuesday in sync with flat trading at Wall Street and mixed cues from Asian peers

The data available on AceEquity suggests that as many as 150 penny stocks have scripted a 'rags to riches story', rallying up to 1,700 per cent in the last six months. Meanwhile, Sensex has corrected about 6 per cent in the same period from its 52-week high of 62,245 touched on October 19.

This means Rs 1 lakh invested in any of these stocks on March 31 last year has now turned into over Rs 10 lakh at present.

Penny Stocks though believed to be high on risk are also known to offer stupendous return in small time if the fundamentals hold good. But to find such a stock can be daunting and indeed is not an easy exercise.
