Indian markets closed lower on Thursday, erasing early gains as consumer stocks dragged indices down. Investors remained cautious ahead of the RBIs policy decision and global trade concerns. IT and pharma sectors gained, supported by lower US treasury yields.

Leading bourses NSE and BSE have given consent to the merger of three subsidiaries into JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd. As per the scheme of amalgamation, three subsidiaries namely Udaipur Cement Works, Hansdeep Industries and Trading, and Hidrive Developers and Industries are getting merged into JK Lakshmi Cement.

Indian indices, Sensex and Nifty, closed lower on Tuesday, driven by declines in banking, financial, and auto stocks. Sensex fell 821 points and Nifty dropped 258 points. October CPI inflation rose to 6.21%, fueling market concerns for Wednesday.

Neuland Labs, Tera Software, Electrotherm, SaskenTech and Orient Technologies, hit their fresh 52-week highs during the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.86 per cent at 22151.60.

The Nifty Bank index closed 1.39 per cent at 51157.80.

Britannia, BEL, NTPC, HDFC Bank and Asian Paints were among the top losers on NSE in today's trade.

The Nifty Realty index closed 0.18 per cent at 967.95.

Indian benchmark equity indices gained during a special one-hour "muhurat" trading session on Friday, marking the Diwali festival, driven by auto stocks boosted by positive monthly sales data.

The Indian cement industry is hopeful of greener pastures after a long period of stress led by pricing pressures and other factors. The second half of FY25 is expected to bring respite due to price hikes, cost benefits and higher volumes, said analysts. The optimistic momentum also makes cement stocks attractive, analysts added, advising to buy dips following a period of bearish sentiment in these stocks.
