Nifty 50 components fluctuate with Hero Motocorp leading gainers and Tata Motors among laggards, Sensex and Nifty rise.

BSE Smallcap fell 2% last week, with 821 stocks declining up to 43%. Market sentiment remained weak due to US recession fears and tariff wars. Notable laggards included BMW Industries, Triveni Turbine, Orchid Pharma, and Coffee Day Enterprises.

Jai Corp Ltd, which lost 69 per cent of its market value till Thursday, fell another 4 per cent on Friday. Vakrangee, Best Agrolife, Zen Technologies and Quick Heal Technologies plunged 51-68 per cent during the same period.

According to market experts, global headwinds continue to weigh on the domestic market, with persistent volatility causing uncertainty among retail investors, who generally have a lower risk appetite.

At the closing bell, the 30-share Sensex tumbled 856.65 points, or 1.14 per cent, to close at 74,454.41. The index fluctuated between 74,907.04 and 74,387.44 during the intra-day trading session.

Orchid Pharma share price: Orchid Pharma's Alathur facility is the only U.S. FDA-approved manufacturing site in India for sterile cephalosporins, a group of antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections.

Stocks including Waaree Energies, Cyient, Bharat Forge, IREDA, Tata Tech, HFCL, Patanjali Foods, RITES and Orchid Pharma will be in the spotlight on Thursday, February 20.

Shares of IREDA and Tata Technologies will be in focus after an NSE release confirmed the inclusion of these in the futures and options segment from February 28.

Out of the 938 stocks in the BSE Smallcap index analysed by ETMarkets, 909 stocks ended the week in the red with the highest fall of 41% witnessed in NGL Fine-Chem.
