The Nifty IT index closed 0.57 per cent down at 33941.05.

Top gainers & losers today - Tata Consumer Products, SBI, Kotak Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever and Eternal (Zomato) lead. HDFC Bank, Kotak, IndiGo hits 52-week high. Waaree Energies, Mahindra Logistics, HCL Tech, Anant Raj, Tata Investment in focus due to Q4 results.

The Nifty Pharma index was trading 0.5 per cent up at 21458.35.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 1.0 per cent up at 55858.65.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.09 per cent up at 21845.8.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.69 per cent down at 33901.15.

In the Nifty50 index, 26 stocks were trading in the green, while 24 stocks were in the red.

The Nifty Realty index was trading 1.39 per cent up at 876.1.

Amidst market volatility, high beta stocks experienced steeper declines, with many falling significantly from their peaks. Low beta stocks demonstrated greater resilience, declining less on average. Factors like global trade tensions, FII selling, and concerns over corporate earnings have contributed to market wobbles. However, recent FII buying and expectations of India's economic outperformance offer some tailwinds.

In January, mutual funds bought stocks worth Rs 575 billion in India's secondary market, with key additions in Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank. Major reductions were seen in Reliance Industries, ITC, and Bharat Electronics. Notable entries included Adani Wilmar in mid-cap and AXISCADES Technologies in small-cap. Mutual funds actively managed their portfolios, focusing on large, mid, and small-cap stocks.
