India could account for nearly a third of the new fund as global investors double down on infrastructure bets in the region’s fastest-growing market.

Markets regulator Sebi on Thursday proposed enhancing limits for investments by mutual funds in REITs and InvITs in a bid to provide more investment avenues and further diversification of such schemes.

Excluding the rights issues of ₹25,973 crore, the fundraising from equity stood at ₹3.73 lakh crore in 2024, up 159% from the previous year.

Private equity firm KKR on Friday pared a 2.6% unitholding in India Grid Trust, the country's first listed power sector infrastructure investment trust, for Rs 277 crore through an open market transaction. Esoteric II Pte, an affiliate of US-based KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co), is the sponsor of India Grid Trust.
