Stock markets started the new fiscal on a firm note on Monday with benchmark Sensex and Nifty scaling fresh record high levels in intra-day trade before settling in the green, backed by firm trends in Asian markets and foreign fund inflows. Extending its winning momentum to the third day in a row, the 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 363.20 points or 0.49 per cent to settle at 74,014.55. During the day, it zoomed 603.27 points or 0.81 per cent to hit its record intra-day high of 74,254.62.

Intl. Conveyors Ltd. reported 160% increase in profit to Rs 37 crore for Q3, 2023, vs. Rs 14.20 crore in same period last year. Revenues were down 29% to Rs 85.42 crore. Profit up 28% sequentially. Shares rose 19.29% to Rs 92.90.

Nifty futures on the NSE International Exchange traded 13 points, or 0.07 per cent, higher at 19,553.50, hinting at a flattish start for the domestic market on Monday.

BSE Mid-cap and BSE Small-cap indices outperformed and touched fresh highs in this week.

Indian rupee rose 45 paise to close at 82.65 for the week ended August 25 against its August 18 closing of 83.10.

Shirkant Chouhan of Kotak Securities said that the index has formed a robust breakout continuation formation and the short-term trend is extremely strong. "The uptrend may continue up to 17,690-17,750," he said.

Rajesh Palviya of Axis Securities, if the Nifty breaks below 17,350 level, it would witness selling which would take the index towards 17,300-17,230.
