Among sectors, the Nifty information technology index added 5 percent, the realty index rose 4.7 percent, auto nearly 4 percent and the Nifty metal index gained 3 percent during the week

The 30-share BSE Sensex pack rose 331 points or 0.51 per cent to trade at 65,407, while the broader NSE Nifty moved 92 points or 0.48 per cent up to trade at 19,435. Mid- and small-cap shares were positive as Nifty Midcap 100 climbed 0.78 per cent and small-cap gained 1.01 per cent.

In the Nifty pack, 25 stocks closed in the green, while 25 stocks ended in the red.

The 30-share BSE Sensex pack surged more than 350 points to trade above 65,900, while the broader NSE Nifty moved nearly 100 points higher to cross 19,500 level. Mid- and small-cap shares were positive as Nifty Midcap 100 moved 0.61 per cent higher and small-cap climbed 0.86 per cent.

For this week, BSE Smallcap index rose 1.4 percent, Midcap index 2.4 percent and Largecap index 2.4 percent.

In the Nifty 50 index, 6 stocks ended in the green, while 44 stocks closed in the red in today's trade.

Foreign institutional investors continued with their buying spree, picking up equities worth Rs 7,850.12 crore, while domestic institutional investors sold equities of Rs 2,478.19 crore

The Indian rupee ended lower against the US dollar. The domestic currency fell 41 paise to end at 79.65 per dollar on August 12 against its August 5 closing of 79.24.

In the Nifty 50 index, 29 stocks ended in the green, while 20 stocks closed in the red in today's trade.

The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 recovered some of their monthly losses but were still down nearly four percent in the month of May.

During the week gone by, all the sectoral indices ended in the red with BSE Metal and Power indices falling 13 percent each. BSE Telecom index shed 6.7 percent and Realty index declined 5.8 percent.

In the Nifty pack, 22 stocks were trading in the green, while 27 stocks were trading in the red.
