During the week gone by, all the sectoral indices ended in the red with BSE Metal and Power indices falling 13 percent each. BSE Telecom index shed 6.7 percent and Realty index declined 5.8 percent.
In the medium term, the market is expected to remain volatile due to uncertainty over the resolution of the ongoing Russo-Ukraine war, input cost inflation, the possibility of rate hikes and a subdued demand scenario.
Out of about 1,000 companies on BSE midcap and smallcap index, as many as 70 stocks have dropped more than 25 per cent in the current year so far, of which 20 have eroded one third of investors wealth in the new year so far.
All the sectoral indices ended in the green with Nifty Metal index added 6.6 percent, Nifty Pharma index rose 4.6 percent and Nifty FMCG index added 3.6 percent.
