Stock Market News: In the previous session on Wednesday, the BSE Sensex tanked 774 points to 60,205, while the Nifty50 plunged 226 points to 17,892. The market was closed on January 26 on account of Republic Day.

Based on the OI percentage, 172 stocks saw long unwinding on Wednesday due to sharp selling pressure in the market, including Marico, Power Grid Corporation of India, HCL Technologies, ITC and Gujarat Gas.

Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries climbed nearly 1% in opening trade, while Zenotech Laboratories was locked in an upper circuit of 5% on the BSE.

The Sensex and the Nifty are seen opening higher on Tuesday, following positive cues from Asian peers and firm trading in Nifty futures.
