Exxaro Tiles shares surged over 30% after BofA Securities acquired a 1.48% stake. The company plans a board meeting to discuss a potential stock split.

BofA bought 6.7 lakh shares in Exxaro Tiles Limited through a block deal at Rs 96.22 per share. Setu Securities Pvt Ltd also bought shares in the company. Exxaro Tiles is a Gujarat-based manufacturer of vitrified tiles.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.05 per cent up at 25093.5.

Pokarna Ltd, Kriti Nutrients, Marksans Pharma, Prakash Pipes and Edelweiss Financial, hit their fresh 52-week highs during the day.

Divis Labs, Hero MotoCorp, Coal India Ltd, UltraTech Cem. and ONGC were among the top losers on NSE in today's trade.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.56 per cent down at 46600.2.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.62 per cent down at 34969.1.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.03 per cent down at 18809.45.

The Nifty Realty index closed 1.57 per cent up at 888.2.

In Samvat 2078, the BSE smallcap index fell 1.16 percent, the midcap index slipped 4.5 percent and the largecap index skidded 1 percent

During the week, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 1,324.34 crore of equities, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought equities worth of Rs 3,569.49 crore

The key benchmark indices continued to reel under selling pressure on Friday, tracking weakness in global markets. The BSE Sensex fell over 1,000 points to 54,668, while the NSE Nifty shed 316 points to 16,366.

High short build-up was seen in Indus Towers, Nifty Financial, Asian Paints, SBI Life Insurance and Britannia Industries.

BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading at new lifetime high levels on Monday, extending the previous weeks' rally.
