Sensex advanced 349 points to 82,134, while Nifty gained 99.6 points to 25,152. Despite this, overall market capitalisation fell over Rs 31,000 crore.

Infosys, Bajaj Auto, HDFC Life Insurance Company, ICICI Securities, Mastek, TV18 Broadcast and Swaraj Engines are among the companies that will announce their Q4FY24 results today.

Based on the OI percentage, a total of 44 stocks were on the short-covering list which included Exide Industries, Coromandel International, Mahanagar Gas, Birlasoft, and Dr Lal PathLabs.

The BSE smallcap index has crashed about 13.5 per cent from its 52-week high, while the BSE midcap index is down about 7 per cent from those levels.
