Indian benchmark indices closed higher on Friday, driven by auto stocks, after last week's 5% drop. The Nifty 50 rose 0.27% to 23,813, and the BSE Sensex gained 0.29% to 78,699. Analysts suggest Nifty may consolidate between 23,500 and 23,900, with key resistance at 23,860 and support at 23,500, potentially targeting 24,000–24,100 if it breaks higher.

The Nifty index has formed a Doji candle near its 200-day exponential moving average (DEMA) support at 23,540, indicating uncertainty. Immediate support is at 23,500-23,540, with a break below 23,500 potentially targeting 23,300-23,200. While the short-term trend is down, a pullback rally remains possible if Nifty holds above 23,500, according to Hrishikesh Yedve of Asit C. Mehta Investment Intermediates.

Indian stock markets show mixed trends on August 23, 2024, with Sensex and Nifty near opening levels, top gainers and losers highlighted.

"On the daily chart, Nifty continues to move towards the upper Bollinger band. Additionally, the index has been sustaining above the critical near-term moving average. Sentiment may continue to favor the bulls as long as it remains above 24,650. On the other hand, the current rise might extend towards 25,000 in the near term," said Rupak De of LKP Securities.

Nifty may report 4% Q1 earnings growth driven by BFSI, auto, metals, healthcare, and real estate, with Trent and Zomato showing significant consumption sector growth. Pharmaceuticals Glenmark Pharma and Laurus Labs have high growth, private and PSU banks lower. Motilal Oswal and Kotak predict 30 companies may report over 100% profit growth.

Sensex, Nifty closed mixed on Tuesday. Sectors such as capital goods, oil & gas, and telecom saw buying action and selling was seen in metal, healthcare, banks and FMCG stocks. Tejas Networks rose over 6% to hit a fresh record high.

BSE barometer Sensex rose 129 points, or 0.17 per cent to Rs 74,047-mark. NSE's Nifty50 added 43.05 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 22,509.15.

Experts are hopeful of further uptrend towards 22,700-22,800 in the coming sessions, with support at 22,300-22,200 levels, and the volatility index diving to November 2023 lows

Axis Securities recommends accumulating Varroc Engineering in the Rs 540-530 range, with a target price of Rs 595, offering an upside potential of 11-15 percent.

Benchmark Sensex jumped 539 points while Nifty closed above 22,000 level on Thursday following buying in metal, power and energy shares and a rally in global markets after the US Fed projected three rate cuts this year.
