Benchmark indices extended gains on Monday on the back of buying in auto and construction stocks. The BSE Sensex rose over 450 points or 0.84% to 54,782, and the NSE Nifty 50 gained 104 points to 16,370.

The next lower targets to be watched for Nifty around 16,500 levels in the next couple of weeks. Any pullback rally from here could find strong resistance around 17,200 levels, says Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening for the index in India with a 45 points gain.
