Despite holding a 75% stake in Butterfly Gandhimathi, the promoter --Crompton Greaves, failed to secure public investors’ approval for its proposed merger with the company.

Sharing its strategy, Crompton said, “Under Crompton's 2.0 strategy, the company remains strongly positioned in core categories such as fans, residential pumps, water heaters, air coolers, and more.” The company added that with its position as a market leader, the retailer will capitalize on future growth opportunities in these segments.

Smallcap companies are stealing the show and driving growth for portfolios of retail investors, with mid and smallcap indices already at record highs. A study by ETMarkets showed the FY23 EPS of 116 smallcaps surged by over 100%, with at least 11 of these companies reporting growth of more than 1,000%. Telecom firm Vindhya Telelinks topped the list, with its EPS increasing 9,488% to Rs 156.37, while multibagger stock Ramky Infrastructure saw a 4,729% spike to Rs 164.83. Analysts recommend investing in small companies with high growth rates and low starting valuations to maximise returns.

"As a part of review of the surveillance action, the price band are revised in the various scrips. The revised price band will be effective from June 7, 2023," the exchange said.

Based on the OI percentage, 60 stocks were on the short-covering list. These included Oracle Financial, GNFC, Syngene International, Aarti Industries, and Pidilite Industries.

Nifty 50 closed at 16,054.90 points and Sensex closed at 53,760.78 points today, on July 15. Nifty 50 fell by 0.73%, and Sensex up by 0.65%. Nifty FMCG hiked by 1.52%, Nifty Metal fell by 0.82%, Nifty Pharma up by 0.03%, and Nifty IT up by 0.73% today. TATA Consumer is a top gainer with a 3.27% surge.

Benchmark indices were up marginally in noon deals on Friday amid a weak global sentiment on fears of a likely aggressive rate hike by the US Federal Reserve. The BSE Sensex was up 50-odd points at 53,480. The NSE Nifty50 languished around 15,960.

BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 indices were trading volatile in a choppy session on the day of monthly F&O expiry.
