BSE Sensex scaled 74,000 during the day but rose more than 165 points, or 0.22 per cent, to end at 73,667.96. NSE's Nifty ended on a flat note at 22,335.70, added 3.05 points, or 0.01 per cent for the day.

The Indian rupee ended 12 paise higher at 82.78 in the week ended March 7 against the March 1 closing 82.90.

The consolidation is a brief pause in the overall uptrend, and we expect the up move to resume during the coming week, says Jatin Gedia – Technical Research Analyst at Sharekhan by BNP Paribas.

BSE's Sesnex dropped 195.16 points, or 0.26 per cent, to settle at 73,677.13. NSE's Nifty50 index shed 49.30 points, or 0.22 per cent, to end the session 22,356.30 for the day.

During this week, BSE Mid-cap index shed 1.3 percent, BSE Small-cap Index shed 0.8 percent and BSE Large-cap Index was down 0.5 percent.

According to experts, Nifty may remain bullish if it stays above 18,300 level, but if it slips below 18,000, profit-taking could set in at 17,800, followed by 17,650. They see strong broad-based buying in the coming week, with other sectors too contributing to the uptrend.

As per the pivot charts, the key support level for the Nifty is placed at 17,758, followed by 17,708. If the index moves up, the key resistance levels to watch out for are 17,879 and 17,951.

SMS Pharmaceuticals has received a non-exclusive license to manufacture and supply of nirmatrelvir through the Medicine Patent Pool to manufacture nirmatrelvir, an oral anti-viral Covid-19 medicine.
