Sterlite Technologies plans to challenge the anti-dumping duty levy by the European Commission on imports of optic fibre from India, even as it improves efficiency at its manufacturing facility in Italy that supplies to the European market.

The move to carve out its fibre infrastructure business comes amid a proposal by the European Commission Directorate General for Trade to levy anti-dumping duty—ranging between 8.7% and 11.4%—on nearly a dozen Indian optical fibre cable makers.

Shares of CAMS, Fine Organic Industries, Nykaa, Jindal Saw, Nuvama Wealth Management, Deepak Fertilisers, and Apar Industries among others witnessed strong buying interest from market participants as they scaled their fresh 52-week highs, signaling bullish sentiment.

BSE barometer Sensex rose 129 points, or 0.17 per cent to Rs 74,047-mark. NSE's Nifty50 added 43.05 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 22,509.15.

Among broader indices, BSE Small-cap index ended on a flat note, while BSE Large-cap Index fell 0.7 percent and Mid-cap Index shed 0.5 percent.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained seller in the fourth consecutive week as they offloaded equities worth Rs 3,379.31 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) compensate as they bought equities worth Rs 3,892.3 crore in this week.
