BSE Sensex added 137.50 points, or 0.21 per cent, to end the session at 65,539.42, while NSE's Nifty50 gained 30.45 points, or 0.16 per cent, to settle at 19,465 for the day.

The Odisha government on Friday accorded in-principle approval for setting up of 10 different industrial projects with an investment of Rs 1,923.60 crore in different sectors.

All the sectoral indices ended in the green with Nifty Metal index added 6.6 percent, Nifty Pharma index rose 4.6 percent and Nifty FMCG index added 3.6 percent.

Ajit Mishra, VP - Research, Religare Broking, said, "Markets remained under pressure for the third successive session and lost nearly a per cent. The tone was negative from the beginning, tracking weak global cues which further deteriorated as the day progressed. However, a rebound in the final hour trimmed some losses."
