Indian companies announce dividends, trading ex-dividend on NSE

BSE Sensex gained 195.45 points, or 0.31 per cent, to settle at 63,523.15, while NSE's Nifty50 rose 40.15 points, or 0.21 per cent, to end the day at 18,856.85 for the day.

After the recent acquisition, Fairfax has taken its overall holding in the company to 34.6 per cent. With this deal, the overall promoter stake in Quess Corp has increased to 56.4 per cent.

The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.11 per cent lower at 104.31

The key support level for the Nifty is 17,775, followed by 17,711 and 17,608. If the index moves up, the key resistance levels to watch out for are 17,982, followed by 18,046 and 18,150.

Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange quoted 6 points, or 0.03 per cent, lower at 18,108.50, hinting at a muted start for the domestic market on Friday.

Shares of Quess Corp gained 4.32 per cent to Rs 642.9 against the previous close of Rs 616.25.

The BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty are expected to see a gap-down opening on Tuesday, tracking weak global cues and negative trends on SGX Nifty.

Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a negative opening for the broader index in India with a loss of 72 points.

The Nifty50 index has breached below the key moving averages - 20 SMA (17,780), 50 SMA (17,485), and 100 SMA (17,640), says Malay Thakkar of GEPL Capital.

BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading over one per cent higher on Monday, the first trading day of calendar year 2022, on the back of buying in index heavyweights such as HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), ICICI Bank, among others.

Amid tepid market momentum, 199 scrips on the BSE traded at 52-week high values while 10 stocks were down at 52-week lows.
